When it arrive I eagerly took it out of the box and tried to attach it to the scope. This is where the problem happened, the rail is too short to fully hold the Red-Dot Reflex Sight, the only way to get it to work is to have it hang half-way off of the rail. This provided a pretty unstable platform and it the fit was really loose. If you tried to play it fully on the rail it would hit the battery compartment of the scope, so that was a no go as well. I was pretty disappointed to say the least, Primary Arms as always put out a pretty good product. I got in touch with Marshall(CEO) at Primary Arms and told him how disappointed I was in the product. He offered to send out the longer rail that goes on the 4x Scope that they also offer. There was one issue with using the longer rail, you would lose the functionality of the front caps, which I was ok with since I usually don’t keep the caps on my scope anyway. If I had any issues with the rail I was free to send the Red-Dot Reflex Sight and rail back at no charge.
After I received the rail for the 4x Scope it was clear why you couldn’t use caps, the rail went past the end of the scope by a little bit. However this didn’t hinder the functionality of the scope one bit, once I verified the the Red-Dot Reflex Sight fit on the 4x Scope rail and the fit was secure I took them off and painted them.
Once I got everything painted and reattached, I love having this Red-Dot Reflex Sight on top of the 2.5x Scope. While the 2.5x Scope does a great job with CQB reticle, inside dimly tight quarters such as a house it was hard for me to use the scope while maneuvering because of the magnification. With the Red-Dot Reflex Sight sitting on top of the scope I get a nice no magnification sight pictures, and I can keep both eyes open while clearing the rooms. The Red-Dot Reflex Sight features an auto brightness which works pretty well, and to conserve battery they provide a cap that dims the red-dot as low as it can go. The overall construction is what you expect to get from Primary Arms, it is well built, functions as it is supposed to. It is a no-frills options at a low price points, works perfectly for the people that want a good functioning sights at a decent price on their rifles.
